Abstract (EN)

The technique of water slide decal with silk screen printing is used in a wide variety of industries and markets. Due to its technical properties and ease of application, the technique attracts many and varied consumers and producers. The design of patterns and their application to porcelain, ceramic and glass occupy a very important place both in Turkey and worldwide. Water transfer (decal) is used for the application of patterns and motifs in sectors with major markets such as glasswork, vitrified materials, souvenirs and ornaments. Patterns on porcelain breakfast and dinnerware, glasses, glassware, porcelain giftware, ceramics and other glass products are examples of the application of the water transfer printing technique. In this work, I aim to describe in technical detail the processes of application of modern designs and experimental works on porcelain, ceramic and glass products, from the first stage of graphic design to the end result. The technical details of graphic design, colour separation, screen printing, silks, plates, oven fireable paints, kiln drying techniques and stages of drying are described in the context of their real application in industry.
