Investigation of the applications and physical conditions of resource room

In our country, as in the whole world, some studies are carried out in order for individuals with special needs to continue their education as their peers, and efforts are made to bring individuals into society. The main purpose of inclusive education, which is provided with support education services, is the integration of students with special needs into society. Support services include training given implementation resource room most places in Turkey implementation. In this study conducted in Alanya district of Antalya, it was aimed to evaluate the resource room implementation according to the opinions of teachers and parents who were educated in the resource room and also to examine the physical conditions of the schools that provide support training room application. In this research, holistic multiple case design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. Data were collected by interview and observation methods. Information forms and interview forms were developed by the researcher to collect the data. Resource room standards checklist was prepared for observation of resource room physical conditions and used in the research. In the research, descriptive analysis technique was used to analyze the data obtained from the interviews. It was concluded that while the teachers considered the resource room application as useful and necessary, they mostly addressed the problems in terms of students and families, and the least they addressed the problems caused by the teacher. Emphasis was placed on the expectations of families to be more involved in solving these problems, increasing cooperation, improving physical conditions, and providing education to teachers and families. The majority of parents who took advantage of the resource room reported that they received resource room service in the classroom environment, that they were satisfied with the resource room applications and that the child benefited. It was determined that the physical conditions of the resource rooms where the resource room applications were carried out were insufficient, and the different environments within the school were used in the schools without independent resource rooms. In the light of the data obtained in the study, suggestions for advanced researches and applications that will ensure effective and efficient execution of services in the preparation and application processes of resource room applications are included.
