Abstract (EN)

In this study, the performances of HPGe and NaI detector were determined in calculating mass attenuation coefficients of Magnesium (Mg) and Tungsten (W) for the energy inter-val of 81-662 keV. In order to reveal the ability of the detectors, collimators were used the diameter of which ranges from 2 mm to 20 mm. It was observed that, as collimator diame-ters increased, the mass attenuation coefficients decreased. The decrease in mass attenua-tion coefficients was more significant for NaI detector as compared to those of HPGe de-tector. It was also seen that after the collimator diameter increased to 10 mm, the mass attenuation coefficient reached the saturated value for HPGe detector unless the case of NaI. It was linked to the fact that HPGe detector has superior energy resolution as compa-red to NaI detector. To visualize that, spectrums were created for the energy value of 662 keV for both HPGe and NaI. In order to check the validity of the Monte Carlo results, experimental measurements were performed with both HPGe and NaI detector for 662 keV as for the mass attenuation coefficients of Mg for the detector collimator diameters ranging from 2 mm to 10 mm. A good agreement was observed.
