Abstract (TR)

This study deals with nuclear medicine as well as the technique of a gamma camera and the setting conditions in its good operation states, including associated with electronics, local materials, and test objects that can be employed for its calibration. Therefore, the thesis attempts to offer the nuclear medicine imaging field a novel phantom (imitation organ) and credibility of its possible uses. Additionally, the work describes the development method used to implement and test the phantom as a quality assurance tool. The phantom which is developed in this study can be considered as an original and valuable knowledge contribution made to the field. Since in-house phantoms may provide effective quality control for gamma cameras in clinical settings, in this thesis, it has been aimed at assess and develop an in-house phantom to perform quality control tests of a gamma camera using locally available, affordable materials. Such phantoms are especially important in developing countries where scientific support may not be readily available. The phantom which has been developed in the thesis was made from cylindrical plexiglass materials that are locally available and generally accessible to most nuclear medicine departments and require minimal engineering instruction. The phantom demonstrated high levels of reliability and accuracy. This work demonstrates that in-house phantoms are capable of monitoring gamma camera performance.
