Evaluation of awareness of state hospital health personnel to nature-related disasters

Thousands of people have lost their lives in disasters throughout the world. Risk analysis and risk management are the basis of disaster management. Preparations such as structural or organizational risk analysis are as important as individual preparation. Among the main functions of institutions serving in the health sector should be to increase the efficiency of post-disaster service and to raise the individual awareness of their personnel in the stages of creating corporate disaster preparedness before the disaster. In order to maintain continuity of service after a disaster, it is expected that the disaster awareness of the hospital staff will be high and therefore their response skills will be developed. This study will be done descriptively in order to determine the level of awareness of natural disasters. The study has the importance of preliminary field research in order for healthcare personnel to fulfill their duties and responsibilities in case of disaster. It is thought that the disaster awareness level of the personnel before the disaster will directly affect their behavior in the case of disaster.This study is planned to determine the awareness of hospital personnel to natural disasters. The research was conducted on 244 personnel working in Gümüşhane State Hospital. As a result of the research, the natural disaster awareness level of the participants was determined to be high. It was observed that the natural disaster knowledge and awareness levels of the participants were medium, while the natural disaster attitude and belief levels were high. A positive linear relationship was found between the natural disaster knowledge awareness average of the participants and the average of natural disaster attitude beliefs, and these data are interpreted as increasing or decreasing together. As a result of the evaluations made, it is recommended to create a disaster culture structure for the medical personnel.
