Investi̇gati̇on of the factors afecti̇ng the academi̇c achi̇evement of Syri̇an students studyi̇ng i̇n state pri̇mary schools

In this study; the aim of this study is to determine the factors affecting the academic achievement of Syrian students in Turkish primary schools. The research was created with a case study design, one of the qualitative research designs. The study group con-sists of 25 Turkish teachers and 25 Syrian students studying in a primary school in Şahinbey, Gaziantep. Data were collected by interview technique. The data obtained from teachers and students were analyzed by content analysis method. The theoretical framework of our study is based on twelve themes which are formed by researching related literature. At the end of the research, it was determined that the most common problem among Syrian students studying in Turkish primary schools was communication problems. Therefore, in order to increase the academic achievement of Syrian students, we think that providing Turkish language education before primary education will in-crease the students' success.
