Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to investigate and evaluate the lifelong learning competence of teachers in public and private schools. In this respect, 210 teachers from different branches and age groups working in public and private schools (kindergarten, primary, secondary and high school) in Bartın were studied. In this research, 190 teachers were studied quantitatively and 20 teachers were qualitatively studied. Teachers included in the study were randomly selected from 12 different schools and interviewed volunteers. 190 teachers were given "Lifelong Learning Trends Scale" developed by Fikriye YAMAN and SPSS package program was used to analyze the data obtained from the scale. Twenty teachers were asked semi-structured interview questions which were formed by using expert opinion in collecting qualitative data. Interviews were recorded with voice recorder so that the interviews were objective and scientific. The data obtained were then transcribed. The following conclusions were reached; Teachers 'lifelong learning tendencies are low, teachers' lifelong learning tendencies do not affect gender, education level, seniority, field, type of institution, teaching level, and higher education institution graduated affects. According to the results of the study, both private and public school teachers renew themselves professionally, the majority of public school teachers have to go to in-service trainings, the main reason for private school teachers to renew themselves and to be proficient in the profession is the business anxiety, the difference between working in private and public schools professional competence increases as the service year increases.
