Abstract (EN)

This study provides current insight into the functions performed by today's product managers working for pharmaceutical companies.The main objective of this study is to investigate the pharmaceutical product managers? duties, by analyzing their perceived involvement in the main activities and to understand whether there are any significant difference of product managers? roles and responsibilities between local and international pharmaceutical companies in Turkey.A questionnaire was developed with questions based on product managers` demographic characteristics, overall role function and the activities that they allocate their time to. For the identification of the components of their overall role function and the activities that product managers allocate their time to, a list of components and activities that were successfully developed in previous studies was used.Results of this research suggest numerous implications for pharmaceutical product managers or for the ones who would like to be one in the future.As a result of the whole study, it is found out that product managers? perceived involvements in the main activities of their position is only related with the company?s characteristics, regarding being local or international/multinational, and the characteristics of product manager, regarding having experience as a product manager in the same product portfolio.
