Abstract (EN)
Digital hospitals are healthcare institutions where information technologies are used intensively, processes are accelerated, and work practices have changed significantly. The aim of this study is to compare the levels of organisational commitment among healthcare professional in digital and non-digital hospitals and to determine the factors that influence these levels of commitment. The population of the study consists of healthcare professional working in digital and non-digital public hospitals in Turkey. In this study, convenience sampling, one of the non-random sampling methods, was used. The Organisational Commitment Scale developed by Meyer, Allen, and Smith (1990) was used to determine the participants' levels of organisational commitment. Data was collected from 211 healthcare professionals using a questionnaire. The data obtained was analysed using SPSS 27 software. According to the analysis results, it was found that the organisational commitment levels of healthcare professionals working in digital hospitals were higher than those working in non-digital hospitals. This finding suggests that digitalisation may have a positive effect on employee organisational commitment. In both digital and non-digital hospital employees, organisational commitment and its sub-dimensions did not show significant differences according to age, education, position, and professional experience. However, the level of organisational commitment of employees working in digital hospitals showed significant differences according to gender. The total level of organisational commitment is significantly higher among male participants than among female participants. This study reveals that digitalisation in the healthcare sector is not only a technical change but also a critical factor in terms of employee commitment, and it hopes to contribute to both theory and practice.
