The effect of digital story tools training on teachers' competence in use of digital story tools and children's environmental attitudes and awareness

This research aimed to examine the effect of digital story tools training on teachers' competencies in using digital story tools and on children's environmental attitudes and awareness. The study group of this research, in which a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test control group was used, consisted of four teachers working in two separate independent kindergartens affiliated with the Afyonkarahisar Ministry of National Education and a total of 67 children aged 60-72 months in the classes of these teachers. As data collection tools in the study, the General Information Form and Digital Story Education Needs Determination Form developed by the researcher, the Digital Story Tools Use Competency Scale (DHAKYÖ) developed by Çelik (2021) and the Environmental Awareness for Preschool Children developed by Büyüktaşkapu Soydan ve Öztürk Samur (2017) were used. and Attitude Scale were used. Within the scope of the research, Digital Story Tools Training developed by the researcher was applied to the teachers in the experimental group for a total of four weeks. Descriptive statistics, T test for dependent and independent samples, and Two-Way ANOVA for Mixed Measurements were used in the analysis of the data obtained from the study. It was concluded that the environmental attitudes and awareness of the children in the experimental group changed positively after the training, and the teachers' competence in using digital stories increased. In addition, it was determined that the effect sizes of the experimental group regarding the environmental attitude sub-dimension and the scale total were at a high level, while the effect size for the environmental awareness sub-dimension was at a medium level.
