Abstract (EN)
Purpose: To quantitatively evaluate the change in the optic disc topographic analysis with the Heidelberg retina tomography-II (HRT-II) associated with reduction in the intraocular pressure (IOP) minimum 5 mmHg after digital ocular massage in normal, ocular hypertensive and glaucomatous cases.Materials and Methods: 51 patients were included in this study. Patients classified in three groups including equal numbers. Ocular hypertensives constituted Group 1, glaucomatous cases Group 2 and normals constituted Group 3. All patients were examined in detail. At first IOP values determined by non-contact tonometry and optic nerve head topographic measurements were perfomed using the HRT-II. After then created a reduction in IOP minimum 5 mmHg with digital ocular massage and immediately repeated HRT-II examination of optic disc. 22 stereometric topographic parameters were assessed. Baseline determinations and the values after digital ocular massage were compared and designated the parameters which were statistical significant. Results: In Group 2 and 3, there was no parameter showed significant change between and after digital ocular massage. There was a significant increase in maximum cup depth after digital massage in Group 1.Conclusion: Reduction in IOP with digital ocular massage for a short time dosen?t effect the optic nerve head analysis with the HRT-II.
