Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to explore the dimensions of the relationship between digital game addicted adolescents and their fathers and to comprehend the effect of the relationship between fathers and their children on the digital game addiction process. The universe of the research consists of students studying in high schools in Sakarya, and the sample group consists of 403 students reached within this universe. Quantitative research method was used in this study. In line with the purpose of the research, "Personal Information Form", "Parent-Adolescent Relationship Scale" and "Digital Game Addiction Scale for Adolescents" were selected to be applied to the students and quantitative data were collected through a questionnaire. In the analysis of quantitative data, independent sample t-tests, one-way analyzes of variance (ANOVA), Tukey HSD Tests, descriptive statistical tables, simple linear regression and pairwise Pearson correlation analysis methods were used. The findings were systematized with SPSS. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained in this study, it was determined that there was a significant difference in the parenting attitude of the fathers and the digital game addiction level of the adolescents, and the digital game addiction levels of the adolescents whose fathers had democratic attitudes were lower than those of the adolescents whose fathers had inconsistent attitudes. In the binary correlation and linear regression analyzes conducted to determine the relationship between the relationships of adolescents with their fathers, which constitute the main problem of the study, and their digital game addiction levels, a negative significant relationship was found. With these analyses, it has been determined that the adolescents' relationships with their fathers affect the levels of digital game addiction, and that the strengthening of the relationship with the father reduces digital game addiction. As the results obtained reveal the predictive effect of father-adolescent relationship on digital game addiction, the research will guide rehabilitation and prevention programs in the field of digital game addiction, expand the scope of studies in the field of fatherhood, contribute to the content of education programs for fathers, and contribute to social work science and social work. It is thought that it will play a key role in addiction and family policies presented in the context of the profession.
