Abstract (EN)

In this study, the critical submergence for dual - rectangular intakes with no partition walls was investigated. In order to predict the critical submergence for an intake in the pair, ?superposition method? based on the potential flow solution is proposed. It is shown that the critical submergence for an intake in a dual - rectangular intakes, can be predicted by superposing the projections of the imaginary sink surfaces (tangent to free surface) on the same plane which is perpendicular to the uniform canal flow. Experiments were conducted on dual - rectangular intakes sited in different positions in a uniform canal flow. The agreement between the theoretical and experimental results is found to be satisfactory.
