Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research; to examine whether the relationship between family resilience and marital satisfaction of parents of children diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) differs significantly from the relationship between family resilience and marital satisfaction of parents with normally developing children (NDC). In addition, it has been investigated whether parents of ADHD and NDC children differ significantly according to some socio demographic variables such as family resilience and marital satisfaction and gender, age, economic status, educational status, and number of children. This research is a quantitative study conducted using a decriptive and correlational research, consisting of volunteer parents with children aged 6-14. The research was conducted with a total of 655 volunteers, 330 of whom have normal developing children and 325 parents with children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The Family Resilience Scale and Marriage Life Scale, whose validity and reliability have been proven by various studies, were used as a means of collecting various demographic data. SPSS v22.0 (Statistical Package Program for Social Sciences) package program was used for statistical analysis of the data obtained in the research. All test results were evaluated at the level of 0.05 significance. As a result of the research, when the family resilience sub-dimension and marital satisfaction score of parents with children with ADHD were evaluated according to sociodemographic characteristics, there was a significant difference in terms of gender and economic status. In terms of age and number of children, there was a significant difference between family resilience subscale scores, but no significant difference between marital satisfaction scores. There was no significant difference between the educational status variable and the family resilience sub-dimension and marital satisfaction scores. When the family resilience sub-dimension and marital satisfaction score of parents with a child (NDC) were evaluated according to socio demographic characteristics, there was a significant difference with the economic situation variable. While there was a significant difference between family resilience sub-dimensions in terms of gender and educational status variables, there was no significant difference in marital satisfaction scores. When the family resilience subscale and marital satisfaction score of parents with NDC children were evaluated, there was no significant difference between age groups and the number of children. When the relationship between the family resilience subscales and marital satisfaction of parents with children with ADHD is evaluated, it is seen that there is a positive and weak relationship between marital satisfaction and family resilient sub-dimensions, struggle, self-efficacy, commitment to life and self-control. When the relationship between family resilience subscales and marital satisfaction of NDC child parents is evaluated, it is seen that there is a positive and weak relationship between marital satisfaction and family resilient sub-dimensions such as struggle, self-efficacy, commitment to life and self-control. When the family resilience subscales and marital life scores are evaluated between the groups of parents with ADHD and NDC children, it is seen that the average satisfaction score of the participants with NDC children is significantly higher than the average score of the children with ADHD. There is no significant difference in the scores of family resilience sub-dimensions between the parents with ADHD and NDC children. As a result of the research, it is seen that the problems and responsibilities of having a child with ADHD have a negative effect on the parents' satisfaction with marriage. Psychosocial intervention studies can be organized to increase the marriage satisfaction of these couples. It can be ensured as a result of these studies that these families meet and share with the families who have the same problems, so that they can get the right information by the experts about their process. Women who feel the responsibility of caring for the child more often have low family resilience and marital satisfaction, so informative family trainings can be organized on sharing the responsibility to care for the child.
