Religious education textbooks published after 1982 in terms of understanding of religion

It can be said that the starting point of the history of education also constitutes the beginning of the history of religious education. However, despite the historical process of education that has been transformed and developed in a scientific sense for thousands of years, religious education has not been able to realize these processes at the same acceleration. One of the main reasons for this is that religious education is directly influenced by the historical, cultural, political and economic development processes of the country in which it is located. In our country, the question of whether the Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge courses, which started to be taught at primary and secondary education level after 1982, were affected by the political and cultural atmosphere of the period in which they were held, comes to mind. Therefore, in order for this effect to be clearly and clearly revealed, it is necessary to determine the understanding of religion in the textbooks that the student is dealing with one-on-one. In this context, in our study, firstly, a sample was created from the textbooks published from 1982 to the present and taught in schools, and it is aimed to reveal the periodic transformation through the understanding of religion in these books. The study consists of two main parts, an introduction containing classifications related to the purpose, importance, literature, methods and understanding of religion, and an examination of elementary, middle and high school textbooks in terms of understanding of religion. In this study conducted in the context of religious understandings and periodic distinctions, it was concluded that certain religious understandings were kept relatively at the forefront in certain periods, and it was found that the political, cultural and scientific infrastructure of the period directly directed textbooks.
