Abstract (EN)

Religion and Security have influenced each other throughout the history of humanity and have shown each other as supporters. Security has sometimes used religion as an important justification to get the support of the masses in achieving its own goals, stating that wars are justified and just, and sometimes peacemaking is a sacred duty. Religions, on the other hand, aimed to increase their loyalty to their followers by using their need to be safe. In this study, it is expected to contribute to the understanding of religion and security interaction by drawing attention to the fact that religions support peace as well as being a reason for wars. In this study, it will be tried to reveal the support that issues such as war, peace, defense and attack in security receive from the holy books. It will be examined how this support is used in the Holy Books of Jews, Christians and Islam, and in which situations security issues are mentioned. The number of times the words security, threat, risk, defense, attack, peace and war are used in the texts will be investigated as numerical data. While referring to the sacred texts of the religions that are the subject of our thesis, their uses that support security applications will be shown. In addition, in each chapter, how religions have been used in theory and practice on security issues in the historical process is discussed.
