Abstract (EN)
Mosques are religious structures used at different times of the day and vary in intensity depending on the days. For this reason, mosques need to be evaluated differently in terms of thermal comfort according to a typical residential building or office-type building. In the thesis study, the thermal comfort of the internal environmental conditions of the mosques which have different heating-cooling, ventilation system, is measured and evaluated in order to determine the comfort levels of the people that comes to the mosques. Electric energy consumption data were collected with energy analyzers in order to monitor the consumption of electrical energy that consumed during the creating of thermal comfort in the mosque which has air conditioning system. The aim of the study is to determine the user's perception of the mosques which have different heating, cooling and ventilation systems and to determine the thermal comfort with the measurements . It is necessary to make the necessary suggestions in order to keep the energy consumed for forming the thermal comfort at the optimum level. The study consists of six main sections and annex sections. In the first part, there is an introduction to the study. The section includes aim of thesis, hypothesis and literature review related to thermal comfort and energy consumption in the mosques. In the second part, it is presented the general characteristics of the mosques and the thermal comfort parameters for energy efficiency. In the third part, there are thermal comfort measurements and survey data of the mosques cases. In the fourth part, the energy consumption of the mosques that have the climate system is analyzed and interpreted. In the fifth part, suggestions are presented in the light of the study findings. The appendices include photos from the day the survey was conducted in the fieldwork, and samples from comments of users in the surveys.
