Özet (EN)
SUMMARY Dental Porcelain Powders Keywords: Ceramic, Bio-Metarials, Tooth, Dental Materials, Dental Porcelains, Dental Porcelain Powders Porcelains are used for the construction of tooth restorations, either jacket crowns or inlays and for artificial teeth for dentures, because after fusion, a hard insoluble mass is formed which can be made to simulate very closely the normal color and translucence of natural dentition. Porcelains for dental use may be classified as high fusing (1290-1370 °C), medium fusing (1090-1260 °C) and low fusing (870-1060 °C). The high fusing material is used in the fabrication of artificial denture teeth by commercial manufacturers, but is rarely used in the dental laboratory to make individual porcelain restorations, since such high fusion temperatures must be employed. Medium and low fusing materials are thus the materials of choice for porcelain inlays and jacket crowns. Most dental porcelains in use now are of the low fusing variety. In industry, porcelain consists of the product of fusion of an intimate mixture of kaolin, quartz and a suitable flux material. A suitable combination for porcelains might be % 81 feldspar, % 15 silica and % 4 clay. In making the medium and low melting point porcelains, other components such as sodium or potassium carbonate and borax or boric acid are added to lower the fusion point of the flux.
