Abstract (EN)
Electricity; is an important source of energy production for the daily life of 21th century. Vehicles powered by electric energy are designed with electric machines that provide the driving power they need. In today's world where energy resources are consumed rapidly, designs that aim to save energy is a study that many disciplines conduct research. With in this context it is crucial that designing electric machines capable of generating sufficient power with minimum energy. In this thesis, with in the content of energy efficiency it is proposed gearless elevator systems driven by Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine which have rather high efficiency, instead of conventional elevator systems with gearbox, which we use frequently in daily life. Gearless elevator systems driven by Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine have many advantages over traditional induction motor applications, such as high efficiency, high torque density, reduction of losses due to the elimination of gearbox and reduction in the system volume. Gearless elevator systems can be driven by permanent magnet motors which locations of the magnet classify them as Surface- Mounted Synchronous Motors (SPMSM) and Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (IPMSM). Regardless of the magnet location, disadvantages are high ripple in the torque and rapidly increasing costs of rare – earth permanent magnets such as NdFeB and SmCo. In this study, Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (IPMSM) have been proposed for gearless elevator applications. Ferrite magnets, which have a relatively low cost compared to the other magnets, have been used in the design of these motors. In addition, different Slot / pole combinations and flux-barrier numbers have been investigated to minimize the torque ripple of the IPMSM. According to this information; firstly the parameters required for a gearless elevator system with a carrying capacity of 630 kg / 8 persons are calculated. Then, the design of Ferrite based IPMSM was carried out in order to meet the requirements. A NdFeB based SMSM with the same parameters as the IPMSM is also designed to show that the IPMSM elevator systems are superior to the SMSM elevator systems. All designed motors are compared in terms of torque ripple, efficiency and cost with various analyses. And the most suitable motor is selected. Designs and analyses are performed by using the MotorSolve BLDC Design and Analysis Program.
