The army in the Turks according to Diwan Lughat al-Turk (The war, the horse and the military equipment)

Dîvânu Lugâti't-Türk was written by Kâşgarlı Mahmud in the 11th century. The purpose of this work I have done is to examine the Turkish Martial Art of that period, based on this work. In those centuries, I did a research on horses, war equipment, war tactics and armies, which were very important for the Turks and used for various purposes, and based this on Dîvânu Lugâti't-Türk. In particular, adabü'l-harb (war etiquette, strategy, tactics) books, furûsiyye (horsemanship, mounted warfare) and ilmü'n-nüşşâb (archery) books belonging to the Islamic period shed light on military history. However, Dîvânu Lugâti't-Türk is a work that sheds light on Turkish history in every field during the period it was written. This work, which is a dictionary written to teach Turkish to Arabs, reflects that period to us like a mirror with the words, proverbs and poems in it. In the first part of my work, I will talk about Kaşgarlı Mahmud and Dîvânu Lugâti't-Türk. In the second part, I will briefly talk about the 11th century Turkish states, the war tactics of the Turks and the army structure. In the third part, I will talk about horse types, the areas where the horse is used and horse care. In the fourth part, I will talk about the types of weapons used in the Turkish army. Of course, I will examine all these in the light of Dîvânu Lugâti't-Türk. Finally, I will end my study with the conclusions I have reached and a bibliography.
