Assesment on proverbs that are located on Dîvânu Lugâti't-Türk about contribution of these proverbs to cultural transmission in Turkish education to foreigners.

The main purpose of this research is to examine proverbs in Dîvânu Lugâti't-Türk that is accepted as the oldest work which teaches Turkish to foreigners and to determine the contrubution of these proverbs to the cultural transmission. In this study qualitative research method is used. As a research model document scanning is selected and content analysis is used as a data analysis technique. Secondary data sources is also consulted in this research. Importance of cultural transmission is explicit when teaching Turkish to foreigners. According to obtained findings, it has been seen that Dîvânu Lugâti't-Türk, which is one of the most important work in the area of teaching Turkish to the foreigners, is not utilized enough. In this context, it has been thought that including the proverbs, which is located on Dîvânu Lugâti't-Türk, in teaching Turkish to the foreigners will contribute to the cultural transmission.
