The kowledge of level of diabetics patients regarding self adminisration of insulin injection

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the knowledge level of patients with Diabetes Mellitus about self-injection of insulin. This study is a descriptive cross-sectional study. The study was carried out between September 2021 and September 2022. Before starting this study, the researcher submitted a detailed explanation of the purpose and methodology of the study to the Iraqi Ministry of Health to obtain official permission, and was submitted to the Ministry of Health in the city of Salah al-Din for approval. The study was carried out with patients in 3 public hospitals in Baghdad, Iraq. A total of 200 patients were included in the study. The ages of the participants ranged from 17 to 85, and the mean age was calculated as 42.67±13.46. A total of 200 people were included in the study, of which 100 (50%) were female and 100 (50%) were male. The mean score obtained by the participants from the scale was 29.82±4.48, which indicates that the level of insulin injection knowledge is low. It was observed that the knowledge level of single diabetes patients about insulin injection was significantly higher than that of married patients (p<0.05). Although the level of knowledge about insulin injection was higher in non-working diabetic patients, the difference between the groups was not significant (p>0.05). Although the level of knowledge of insulin pen users was higher as a result of the independent sample t-test performed to determine whether there was a difference in the level of self-injection knowledge compared to diabetes treatment, the difference between the groups was not significant (p>0.05). There was no relationship between the duration of diabetes and the knowledge level of self-injection of insulin.
