Abstract (EN)
Aim: We planned this study to investigate how brain and lateral ventricular volumes change when individuals diagnosed with diabetes, hypertension and obesity are compared with healthy individuals. Material and Method: Magnetic Resonance Images of 111 (56 female, 55 male) individuals were used in the retrospective study. The study included 30 diabetes, 30 hypertension, 20 obesity and 31 healthy individuals. Volume measurements were made using the VolBrain method. IBM SPSS Statistics 26.0 program was used in the analysis. Results: When the individuals separated according to the diagnosis were compared in terms of gender, in the diabetes and hypertension group, brain, white matter and gray matter volume in the male group compared to the females; In the obesity and healthy group, a statistically positive significance was determined only in the brain volume in the male group compared to the females. In the comparison made to understand whether the reason for the volume change is only due to the disease or a difference between the sexes, a positive statistical significance was found in the brain volume, white matter and gray matter volumes in male compared to female. Conclusions: We think that we can contribute to the literature by comparing the volumetric changes in the structures such as the total brain, lateral ventricles, white and gray matter of the patients in the diabetes, hypertension and obesity group with the individuals in the healthy group.
