Teaching elif-ba in quran courses for 4-6 year olds of the Presidency of Religious Affairs

The aim of the study is to examine the teaching of alif-ba in the 4-6 year old Quran courses of the Presidency of Religious Affairs (DİB) in the context of the curriculum, the alif-ba used and the instructors' opinions. The study consists of three parts. In the first part of the study, the history of teaching Holy Quran from Muhammad (pbuh) to the present is included. In the second part, the Quran Course Curriculum for ages 4-6 and the pre-school alif-ba used today were examined in terms of teaching alif-ba. The third part consists of the findings of the interviews held on elif-ba teaching with a working group of 20, consisting of 10 instructors working in the 4-6 age Quran courses in Tekirdağ and 10 instructors working in Sakarya. The interviews recorded with the help of a recorder were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. According to the findings obtained from the research, it is understood that the educational activities and instructor profiles in 4-6 year old Quran courses vary. It has been determined that the differences in the methods and techniques used by instructors while teaching elif-ba are directly related to instructor competencies, student readiness, students' learning speed and learning style. It has been observed that instructors want to bring education-training processes to a quality level through in-service training. It is understood that the instructors generally touch on similar issues about the Quran Curriculum. It is expected that different teaching programs can be organized by paying attention to the age group, and the teaching program will guide the instructor by detailing the teaching method and technique. It is understood that teachers' concerns about the education process should be reduced by informing them about the updated curriculum.
