Özet (EN)

This study was carried out in Diyarbakır city center, and Silvan, Ergani, Çınar, Lice town between in 2008-2009. This research has been conducted with the aim of determining the existence of the flies that effect myiasis, and detecting the myiasis events and some parameters occurred in these events In order to gather the flies, then to capture and then to kill them, the odour bait traps were used. 6581 flies were caught from traps in total. The flies were identified in the laboratory according to their morphological characteristics, and it was seen that 5424 (82,43 %) of the flies were Lucilia sericata, 833 (12,65 %) were Calliphora vicina, 222 (3,38 %) Chrysomyia albiceps, 93 (1,42 %) were Calliphora vomitoria, 3 (0,04 %) were Sarcophaga haemorrhoidalis, 3 (0,04 %) were Sarcophaga argyrostoma and 3 (0,04 %) were S Sarcophaga carnaria. Wohlfahrtia magnifica was obtained by reproducing matures in larvae of external myiasis cases. It was determined that 5186 (78,80 %) of the total number of flies were female and 1395 (22,20 %) were male. Females and males of all the species, except female of Sarcophaga argyrostoma and Sarcophaga carnaria, were detected. Flies did not appear in January, December and August in both years. The flies appeared at highest rate in April 2008 (48,43 %) wherein, according to meteorological data, average temperature was 16.8 °C, relative humidity was 39,1 % and the rainfall was 19 mm3 and in April 2009 (45,64 %) in which these values were 11,8°C, 71,3 % and 43,7 mm3, respectively.Developments of the species of which were investigated in laboratory conditions, Lucilia sericata, Calliphora vicina and Wohlfahrtia magnifica, completed their developments in 19-21, 18-24 and 17-25 days respectively.Throughout the experiment, 26 myiasis cases were detected. 8 (30,77 %) of these, occured in May of both years, 8 (30,77 %) in June, 8 (30,77 %) in July and only 2 (5.77 %) in August 2008. 20 of the cases (76,92 %) were diagnosed in sheep, 4 (15,38 %) in cattles and 2 (7,69 %) in goats. Upon the examination of flies and preparates obtained from larvae that are collected from wounds, it is determined that 24 of wounds (92,30 %) were brought about by Wohlfahrtia magnifica larvae, 1 (3,84 %) by Lucilia sericata larvae and 1 (3,84 %) by Wohlfahrtia magnifica, Lucilia sericata. Creolin was applicated on the wounds of which the nekrotic tisues were removed and it was observed that all the wounds were healed. The reduct glutation (GSH), erytrocyt glutation peroxidase (GSH-Px) and serum malondialdehyde (MDA) levels of 20 sheep with external myiasis are measured. A significant increase on MDA (p<0,05) level and a significant decrease in GSH-Px (p<0,05) activity were determined when it is compared with the control group. When compared with the control group and the infest group, it was determined that the red blood cell, haemoglobin, haematocrite levels of the sheeps decreased significantly whereas neutrofil, lymphocyte, eosonofhile, basophile (p<0,05) levels increased significantly. In conclusion of the study it is found that, the detection of the existence of the myiasis flies in Diyarbakır and its surrounding, and some changes defined on some parameters of myiasis events has exposed the existence of the findings which will effect the population of cattles, sheep and goats. With this study, initial knowledge is set forth, but similar studies would also be needed in the future.
