Diyarbakır province Kocaköy district public beliefs

"Religion"is an important factor in forming social and cultural lives of societies. Religions have always existed in every area where people have existed. Thus, various religions and their belief systems are observed in every phase of human history. It is one of task areas of a Religion Historian to investigate scientifically and reveal values existing as beliefs among people and expressed as "Folk beliefs".Undoubtedly, transfer of cultural values from a generation to another is possible through studying and transferring them to written records. In this context, we investigated folk beliefs in Kocaköy and its vicinity with the sense of responsibility I had mentioned. In the thesis entitled "Diyarbakır Province Kocaköy District Public Beliefs", we tried to determine beliefs and customs for people of the region and applications depending on these. Our study starts with introduction and consists of three chapters and results. In the introductory section, the definition and evaluation of the concept of folk beliefs and methodological information such as the subject, limit, purpose and method of the research were included. In addition, the topics related to the historical, geographical, population and economic structure of the town of Kocaköy were included in this section. In the first part, people's beliefs about birth, circumcision, marriage and death, which are the transition periods of life, were included. In the second part, the rain prayer, trees, animals, water and fire beliefs and assessments about nature were made in Kocaköy County. In the third part, the Places of pilgrimage in Kocaköy and the beliefs shaped around them were examined and evaluated in terms of religious history. In conclusion, a brief evaluation of the findings obtained from the study was made and finally, the pictures related to the subject were added to the end.
