Conservation and restoration proposal for "Surp Sargis Church" with in Diyarbakır churches

Churches in the city of Diyarbakır which is the home city of lots of civilization and culture inhistorical period, have examined and as sample Surp Sargis Church Protection Proposal hasprepared to protect these buildings.Under the chapter of ?Diyabakır?s Physical and Social Constitution? city?sgeographical location, topography, geology, climate, vegetation, population and whilesocioeconomic conditions have been examined, Non-Muslims and Armenian people?slocations in Diyarbakır has tried to present.Under the third chapter ?Diyarbakır?s Historical Development? Diyarbakır?sprevious civilizations, Roman-Byzantium Period, Arabian-Mervanis, Artukids, Akkoyuns,Ottoman Period and in the last section Turkish Republic period is mentioned.Under The chapter of ? Diyarbakır Churches? General Architectural Characteristics? ; Thedefinition of church as a religious building and origin of this building type and architecturalpeculiarities have examined. By using the visual and written documents Thirteen churches inDiyarbakır -five Armenian Churches include- have examined for their terms of locations,desingns, facades, materials and consturaction types. Also chart of these church typologieshave prepared.Under the chapter of ?Surp Sargis Church? history of church, location of Diyarbakır citywalls, Church?s plans, facades, construction type and materials have examined, deteriorationsof the church and its reasons has defined.In order to reveal the original architectural peculiarities of the church old plans, photographsand repair information has collected at the same period of Armenian churches in Diyarbakırthen this information has evaluated to make a new restitution proposal. At the same timeunder these proposals, Recommended Conservation and Restoration Project has prepared.
