Abstract (EN)

In this study, it has been tried to make a sociological study on the Diyarbakir Mawlid al Nabi (The Birth of Prophet Muhammed) Ceremony, which reflects the new form of the mawlid ceremonies today. In order to observe the change in the mawlid ceremonies, traditional mawlid ceremonies were also discussed. Interviews (Talks) were conducted on 100 people selected from different neighborhoods of Diyarbakır province. In addition, different interviews were conducted with religious officials, madrasa scholars, association and foundation officials, mawlids and divine artists. Observations were made with the participant observation technique in the mawlid ceremonies performed in the houses, in the holy places and in the squares with its new form. Videos, images and documents related to the Mawlid al Nabi ceremony in Diyarbakır were examined. Evaluations were made as a result of the findings obtained. The first part of our study, which consists of three parts, is the conceptual framework. In this section, the concepts related to the subject and the historical process are discussed. In the second part, the methods and techniques of our research are given. In the third section, the findings and interpretations related to the research are given. In this section, the types, effects and functions of Mawlid ceremonies in daily religious life are mentioned. In addition, Diyarbakir Mawlid al Nabi ceremony, which is a new form of mawlid ceremonies with its changing aspects, has been tried to be examined with its different aspects. Active religious groups and madrasas in the region have been found to have an influence on mawlid ceremonies. It has been observed that mawlid ceremonies in their new form have traces of popular religion and book religion. It has been observed that mawlids in Kurdish are recited widely in the region. It has been determined that the interaction between mawlid and music has an effect of increasing enthusiasm in mawlids.
