Abstract (EN)

Ceramics was initially discovered to meet the daily needs of people, and over time, it began to be used as a means of expression in art. From past to present, various materials and reliefs have been used in ceramic vessels that reflect the aesthetic and economic concerns of societies as well as their social lives, religious beliefs and cultural sensitivities. Today, ceramics continue to be produced with different shaping and ornamentation techniques with developing technology, industry and various artistic understandings. Diyarbakır Great Mosque has been one of the largest and most important places of worship from past to present. Reflecting the historical texture of Diyarbakır, this mosque continues its presence in the region in many ways. The Great Mosque, which has undergone more than one repair, attracts attention with its structure and textures that change according to the areas used. The inscriptions on the walls of the building reveal the history of the mosque. Diyarbakır Ulu Cami complex has an important place among the monumental works of the city with its architectural structures, decorations and unique building elements. In this study, the decorations in the Great Mosque were designed in accordance with ceramics and models were produced with various shaping techniques. The aim was to create a common language of plastic expression. The first firing was carried out at 950 °C and the glazed firing at 1050 °C in electric chamber type kilns.
