The place and importance of cumbus instruments and performers in Diyarbakir regional music

The cümbüş instrument, which flourished in the Republic of Turkey and is almost as old as this republic, has been studied. As a result of the researches and interviews, the cümbüş instrument and its performers, which are discussed in the Diyarbakir region, have been tried to be explained in five parts with this thesis. In the first part, the history, geographical location, social and economic structure, culture and tourism of Diyarbakır are mentioned. In the second part, Diyarbakir velime nights, Elazig Harput region lectern nights, Gaziantep region barak village room, Sanliurfa sira nights, Diyarbakir music genres and maqams used in Diyarbakir music are explained; In the third part, the development of the art of music in the republican period and the importance Atatürk gave to music were mentioned. In the fourth chapter, the characteristic features of the cümbüş instrument, interviews with cümbüş performers, the structure of the cümbüş instrument, the tuning principle of the cümbüş instrument, Zeynel Abidin and general information about cümbüş are given; In the fifth chapter, classification of instruments, percussion instruments, wind instruments and string instruments are emphasized. The revel, which was invented in these lands, became the indispensable voice of masters such as Kazancı Bedih from Şanlı Urfa. Reveling in the hands of these masters, it has become an instrument that radiates joy in every assembly it enters. Due to this feature, it has become more interesting among other instruments and shines.
