Abstract (EN)
The study examines the effects of nutrition education on the nutrition practices, levels of nutritional knowledge and nutritional status of hyperlipidemic patients. The sample of the study consists of a total of 82 patients not undergoing any medical treatments who have applied to GATA Nutrition Polyclinic. Percent and frequency distributions of the questionnaire data were taken in addition to x2, t-test and correlation applications. Significance levels were accepted as .01, .001 and .05.The findings of the study shall be listed as follows;1)According to the results after the education, there was a significant decrease in the levels of cholesterol, triglycerid, LDL and VLDL cholesterol.2)The results after the education indicated a positive correlation between triglycerid and weight and BMI both with a 95% confidence level.3)After the education, there has been no further consumption of butter. Additionally, there was an increase in the consumption of olive oil and vegetal oils and a dramatic decrease in bread buttering habits of the individuals.4)After the education, the amounts of daily protein, vitamine A, folic acid, calcium and fiber intake of the hyperlipidemic patients? increased while the intake of energy, cholesterol, polyunsaturated fatty acids and saturated fatty acids displayed a statistically significant decrease.5)The level of nutritional knowledge of hyperlipidemic patients increased after having taken nutritional education.
