Abstract (EN)
Within the scope of this master's thesis, the droplet size combustion of triethyl borate, diesel and their mixtures was experimentally carried out. The processes occurring during the combustion of fuel droplets have been studied in detail. In the present study, the combustion processes of the droplet and its related parameters were investigated in detail. The flame characteristics and temperature changes of the droplets were also examined in detail within the scope of the study. Droplet dynamics and flame images were recorded by a high-speed camera with a precision of 1/1400 of a second, using the back-illuminated imaging system and self-illuminating imaging system. The resulting images were processed in detail with a specially developed Matlab algorithm to diagnose the change in droplet size. The D2 law was used to evaluate the size change of the droplets. In addition, the combustion temperatures of the mixtures were measured using a high-sensitivity thermal camera. As a result, it has been observed that the addition of triethyl borate fuel to diesel increases combustion temperatures and reduces ignition delays. It is among the results obtained within the scope of the study that the addition of triethyl borate causes a decrease in the droplet life time and burning rate.
