Investigation of the effect of nature education on the social skills of pre-school children

Abstract (EN)

In this study, which was conducted to investigate the effect of nature education on the social skills of pre-school children, made use of enriched design which is a mixed model where qualitative and quantitative models are used in combination. The study group included 33 children attending preschool education in 2017-2018 academic year in Güzelbahçe preschool in Düzce city center. There are 13 in the experimental group; 20 children in the control group. As a data collection tool; "Preschool Social Ability Assessment Scale" (2012) teacher form developed by Ömeroğlu, Aydoğan, Özyürek and his friends, and "Ministry of National Education Preschool Education Program Development-Observation Form" (Ministry of Education, 2013) were used. In the analysis of the quantitative data, t test was used for the dependent and independent samples, and the qualitative analysis method for the Ministry of National Education Preschool Education Development Observation Forms, which was filled by the working group teachers, was used method of descriptive analysis. As a result of the research; It was observed that nature education had a significant difference in the social skills, social skills sub-dimensions of pre-school children, initial support of academic support, friendship and emotion management, and nature education was effective in the development of social skills of preschool children.
