Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research, geography lesson about Internal Forces of the active learning and traditional methods of teaching students is to examine their impact on academic success.It was conducted on 58 students in totally in which there were 29 students to the experiment group and 29 students to the control group in Haci Bayram AIHL in Altındağ in Ankara on fall semester in 2009-2010 education year.In this research, pretest- posttest researh model with control group is used Active learning techniques in experiment group and traditional education methods in control are used. The research was made in a secondary education institution with middle socioeconomic status. Research subject were selected by random method.Research data was collected by achievement test. In data analysis arithmetic avereage, standard deviation, t-test were used.As a result, according to scores posttest og achievement test, the arithmetic average of experimental group in which active learning methods were applied was higher than the arithmetic average which of the control group in which traditional education was applied.So, active learning approach for students success on the Geography lesson has been identified more affective than traditional teacher-centered education.
