In this research, it is aimed to analyze the impact on an instructional program designed with direct instruction method and of a computer assissted instructional program designed in accordance with this method on preschoolers` geometric figures concepts learning.60-72-month children attending the nursery classes of primary schools and the private kindergartens which are linked with the Ministry of National Education in Ankara province constitute the population of this research. Since there will be some financial and time problems in getting through to the whole population, sampling method was referred. 45 60-72-month children contitute the population of the research. 15 of these children constitute the first experimental group, and 15 of them consitute the second experimental group, while the other 15 constitute the control group. `Geometric Figures Recognition Test` developed by Durmuş Aslan (2004) was used as data collection tool in this research. Geometric Figures Recognition Test is made up of four extents including triangle, square, circle and rectangle. After statistical analysis carried out, it is confirmed that Geometric Figures Recognition Test is realiable and valid.With the aim of analyzing the impact on an instructional program designed with direct instruction method and of a computer assissted instructional program designed in accordance with this method on preschoolers` geometric figures concepts learning, `a pretest-posttest model with experimetal and control groups` was used. The instructional program designed with direct instruction method and the computer assisted intructional program designed in accordance with this method have been applied to the preschoolers attending this research for eight weeks, three days a week, and about thirty minutes a day. After the programs applied, there has been a significant difference in favour of the instructional program designed with direct instruction method and the computer assissted instructional program designed in accordance with this method (p<0.05). On the persistency test about the persistency of the instuctional program, it is determined that the impact of the instructional programs continue.Based on these findings, some suggestions devoted to the scientific studies which can be done in the future about developing preschoolers` geometric figures concepts learning were offered.
