Comparison of commercial analysis program used for non-linear analysis of frame systems

Nonlinear analyses of structures within the performance based design framework have become more common in the past decade. The development of computer technology, research conducted on the nonlinear analysis in the past several decades and commercialization of academic research software made nonlinear analysis of structures more accessible to research and engineering community. It is also expected that nonlinear analysis would be mandatory for some type of structures (for example, tall buildings and base isolated buildings) in Turkey due to the new seismic design regulations that will be published in the following years. Therefore, it is considered that comparison of commercial analysis software that are capable of conducting nonlinear analysis and that are already used in practice would be beneficial.
