Determination and characterization of edible legumes in the Eastern Mediterranean region

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the presence and characterization of Bean Common Mosaic Virus (BCMV), Soybean Dwarf Virus (SbDV), Cucumber Mosaic Virus (CMV), Bean Yellow Mosaic Virus (BYMV), Pea Enation Mosaic Virus (PEMV), Tobacco Ringspot Virus (TRSV), Peanut Stant Virus (PSV), Alfalfa Mosaic Virus (AMV) were performed by biological, serological and molecular methods in the edible leguminous areas of the Eastern Mediterranean Region. In the surveys conducted between 2015 and 2016, totally 337 edible legumes samples were collected from 5 provinces (Adana, Mersin, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş and Osmaniye) in the region and performed ELISA test. According to ELISA results, 14 (%14,43) of 97 samples from Adana, 18 (%16,82), of 107 samples from Mersin, 6 (%9,23) of 65 samples from Hatay were found to be infected with at least one virus. Forty-nine samples from Kahramanmaraş and 19 samples from Osmaniye were province were found to be not infected by DAS-ELISA. For the first time, the presence of SbDV was detected by DAS-ELISA method in Turkey. Isolates of BCMV from Adana were 93-97% similar with NCBI-registered isolates.
