Examination of exercise addiction levels of sports high school students in Eastern and Aoutheastern Anatolia regions

Abstract (EN)

In this study; examining of the exercise addiction levels of sports high school students in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolian regions is aimed. The universe of the research carried out in the scanning model consists of sports high schools dependent to the Ministry of National Education in the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions. The sample of the study consists of 451 sports high school students, 116 female and 335 male, selected by convenience sampling from this universe. As data collection tools in the research; "Personal Information Form" prepared by the researcher and "Exercise Addiction Scale" developed by Tekkurşun-Demir, Hazar and Cicioğlu (2018) were used. Descriptive statistics, independent groups t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Pearson correlation analysis were applied to the data. When the research findings were examined, it was found that the exercise addiction scores of the students differed notably according to the licensed sports and grade levels (p<.05); on the other hand, it was determined that there was no significant difference according to gender, income level, parent's education and place of residence (p>.05). Finally; it was revealed that the exercise addiction levels of the students were above the average and the majority of the students (61.2%) were exercise addicted.
