Potential verb in eastern Turkish written languages

Potential verb is used to express the capacity and capability of the person who performs the action in the matter of realization of the action is possible or impossible. This verb takes place in the structures which are called ?description verbs? or ?compound verbs?. It has been tried to determine the usage and forms of potential verb in literary languages by means of the works which belong to Historical Turkish literary languages. Another points cited in this thesis are the changes of potential verbs in positive and negative forms during the periods and the identification of the sequence of priority and regency of the changes.Potential verb has been analyzed in the light of the texts that belong to historical Turkish literary languages with all forms in these periods by means of functional, historical and comparative linguistics methods.Key Words :1.
