An evaluation of the anxiety level according to the delivery method, an example of Kirsehir province

The main purpose of this study is to determine the anxiety levels of mothers, who experienced cesarean and vaginal deliveries, in antepartum and postpartum periods. Within the scope of the research, because the factors affecting the state and trait anxiety levels of the antepartum and postpartum periods of patients with cesarean and vaginal deliveries and the relationship between these two types of anxiety are examined, the design of this research is causal comparison. The population of the research is composed of mothers who gave birth in Kırşehir province in 2017. The sample consists of a total of 117 individuals who came to Ahi Evran University Training and Research Hospital between January and December 2017 and selected by simple unselected sampling method. To determine the continuous and state anxiety levels of 117 individuals participating in the study in antepartum and postpartum periods, the state and trait anxiety scales developed by Spielberger (1964) and adapted to Turkish by Öner and Le Compte (1983) were used and a personal information form developed by the researchers was applied to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants. Spielberger's state and continuous anxiety scale consists of a total of 40 items, 20 items per scale. At the end of the researches, in the antepartum period, the state anxiety level of the women is higher than the postpartum level scores. As a similar conclusion, participants in the antepartum period had a higher level of trait anxiety scores than those in the postpartum period. In the context of the research, it can be said that the findings are the same in terms of the relationship between state anxiety and trait anxiety in antepartum and postpartum periods. When the statistical value of this result is examined, the level of the existing relationship is average. It is thought that the findings of this research will provide important contributions to the theoretical and practical studies.
