The effectiveness of plissit model for solving the sexual problems of women's in the postpartum period

Abstract (EN)
This study was made to evaluate the effectiveness of PLISSIT model in solving the sexual problems of women?s in the postpartum period as quasi-experimental with the order pre-test and post-test control group. The study sample consisted of 123 women (work = 61, control = 62) selected by systematic sampling method from 640 women, living in areas of Antalya Kepez Culture No. 17 and No. 18 Family Health Center Family Health Center, and being in the post-natal 3-12 months. Data collected with personal information form developed by researcher and consisting of two parts, information form about birth and postpartum sexual life, Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale (ASES) and Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire (SQLQ). Women in both groups, during the first home visit, personal information form, information about delivery and postnatal form of sexual life, and SQLQ and ASES were applied. In this visit, the women in the study group were applied the PLISSIT model intervention plan, were identified women?s sexual problems, tried to be solved. After one month than the first visit, second home visit was made; Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale and Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire were applied to the both groups. Data was analysed with SPSS 18 statistics analysis program. In the evaluation of data, t-test, ki-kare test, Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test was used. Before the implementation of PLISSIT model intervention plan, 77.0% of the women in the study group and 71.0% of women in the control group had 12 points and above according to ASES and sexual problems, similar statistically. After implementation of the PLISSIT model intervention plan, it was determined that women in the study group (60.7%) had less sexual problems than women in the control group (77.4%) and this different was significant in the statistics evaluation. As a result, we can say that the PLISSIT model intervention plan might be effective in the reducing of women's sexual problems in the post-partum period.
