Determination of premenstrual syndrome levels and affecting factors of pregnant women

ABSTRACT DETERMINATION OF PREMENSTRUAL SYNDROME LEVELS AND AFFECTING FACTORS OF PREGNANT WOMEN Tuğba AGIRBULAK Master's Thesis, M.Sc. Program of Gynecology and Obstetrics Nursing Thesis Supervisor: Dr. Instructor Semra ÇEVİK June 2018, 78 pages This study has been conducted to premenstrual syndrome levels and affecting factors in women who gave birth. This study, which is planned as a descriptive study, was performed on 384 women who were not pregnant and had not entered menopause over 18 years of age who had a cesarean or vaginal delivery to Adana Gynecology and Children's Hospital gynecology outpatient clinics. The data of the study has been collected by using face-to-face interview method, a questionnaire consisting of questions about socio-demographic characteristics of the participants and a Premenstrual Syndrome Scale (PMSS) developed by Gençdoğan.. Independent T-test, ANOVA test and chi-square analysis have been used in the study. 41.9% of the patients are in the 30-39 age group, 45.8% of them had vaginal delivery and 41.1% of them had cesarean delivery. While 50.3% of participants have PMS, it has not been observed in 49.7% of them. There is no statistically significant difference between the delivery methods groups in terms of the subscale scores of PMS, depressive affection, anxiety, fatigue, nervosity, depressive thoughts, pain, appetite change and sleep change, and bloating (p> 0,05). Consequently, there is no statistically significant relationship between presence of PMS and age, country, place of residence, educational background, number of pregnancies, number of living children, delivery method and status of using alcohol (p>0,05), while there is a statistically significant relationship between presence of PMS and number of miscarriage/abortion, menarche, income status and status of smoking (p<0,05).
