Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the wear behavior of metal matrix composite materials (MMC) obtained by recycling waste metals by using double acting hot pressing method is investigated. CuSn10 (bronze) and GGG40 (spheroidal graphite cast iron) materials with known chemical contents were used in the production of composite materials recycled by double-acting hot pressing method. Four different mixing ratios were determined in the production of MMC materials and composite materials were produced at three different pressures and two different temperatures. Poresity, density and brinell hardness tests of the MMC materials were performed to determine their mechanical properties before the wear tests. The results were evaluated with microstructure images. After the determination of the mechanical properties, the wear tests were carried out in accordance with ASTM (G77-05) block on disc wear test standard. The instantaneous temperature changes of the contact area, friction coefficient changes and weight losses have been determined by carrying out the wear tests. Furthermore, the surface roughness changes of the composite materials during the wear tests were measured regularly before and after the tests. After abrasion tests, changes in the surface of MMC materials and abrasive disc materials were examined by SEM and EDS analysis and phase transformation during wear was examined by XRD analysis. As a result of the data obtained, the effect of different production parameters on the wear behavior of composite material was investigated and the possibility of sliding bearing material was investigated. Increased amount of reinforcing material GGG40 in composite material increased surface hardness and pore amount. In addition, surface roughness and contact zone temperatures were increased in abrasion tests of composite materials with high GGG40 content. Significant decreases in friction coefficients were observed in the progressive processes of wear due to the lubricating effect of spherical graphites in the reinforcing material.
