The evaluation of Nuhbetü'l-Etfâl of Doctor Rüştü for Turkish teaching

Turkish Language teaching involves the teaching of first reading and writing. They are very important in that they are the most important factor of whole education life. There fore, it?s essential that children are supposed to have a good mother language training throughout their life so as to be successful members and to take part in the society as well. The subject of teaching Turkish language to Turkish native speakers at the age of first reading and writing have started to take place since 1839 reforms. Nuhbetü?l-Etfâl is one of the first important books of the day in terms of the first reading and writing. In Turkish language teaching, two main points are effective in selection of passages in books. First, the physical, social and mental structure of children. Second, the features of language development, so it?s necessary that the writing of course book is to depend on scientific basis and the passages in books should be chosen among the distinguished examples of children literature. In this set of materials, the teaching of first reading and writing are tried to be analyzed on account of purpose, principles as well as methods and children literature is mentioned where it?s necessary. Consequently Nuhbetü?l-Etfâl and Turkish 1 Coursebook for Primary education were examined and compared.
