Evaluation of doctors sleep, work life and dietary quality

Abstract (EN)
Causes such as intense work tempos and long working hours of doctors cause inattention, fatigue, poor performance and insomnia. This study was conducted to evaluate the sleep, work life and diet quality of doctors and to reveal the relationship between them. The study included 159 doctors (86 women, 73 men) who worked at the Baskent University Ankara Hospital between September-November 2022.The demographic characteristics, health conditions and eating habits of the doctors participating in the research were recorded in the questionnaire with the face-to-face interview technique. Doctors; were divided into two groups as assistant and specialist doctor academic staff. To assess the quality of sleep of doctors, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PUKI) has been applied to the The Work-Related Quality of Life to assess work quality of life. The dietary quality of doctors was evaluated with Healthy Eating Index-2015 (HEI-2015) and International Diet Quality (DQI-I).The rates of male and female doctors participating in the study are respectively; It was detected as % 45.9 (S:73), %54.1 (S:86).It was found that doctors skipped %81.1 of meals. According to the total score and score classification of HEI-2015, there are no doctors with good dietary quality, while %49.7 of doctors are found to be moderate and %50.3 is poor. According to the DQI-I total score and the average score, the proportion of individuals with poor and good dietary quality, respectively; It was found as %98.7 and %1.3. PUKI score of male and female doctors, respectively; It was detected as 5.0±2.79 and 6.7±3.48.Women's sleep quality score was higher than men (p<0.05). The quality of work life scores of male and female doctors were found at 69.6±15.26 and 63.9±14.18, respectively (p<0.05). Negative between the sleep quality of the quality of work life; A positive relationship was found between age and age (p<0.05). As the sleep quality of the assistant doctors in the first group increased, it was determined that the quality of work life increased (p<0.05). It is thought that there is a need for studies in which doctors are evaluated and investigated for sleep, work life and diet quality.
