For thispurpose, firstly a production cost equation was adopted for the towels beforefinishing processes. Additionally, 47 towel samples with different physical propertieswere produced in SANKO Holding (Gaziantep). Then, the physical and performanceproperties of these samples were determined experimentally.Various statistical analyses (K-S test, Runs test, regression and correlationanalyses) were applied to the data obtained using the SPSS package programme. Inthe results of these analyses, the relevant equations were constituted to predict thephysical and performance properties of the towels examined in the present study.Hence, a cost minimization model was established and this model wasdefined as ?the basic model?. In this model, the constituted equations were used asconstraint and the production cost equation was accepted as the objective function.Totally 16 nonlinear mathematical models were carried out on the base of the basicmodel. It was individually aimed to optimize each of the performance property usingsome models out of sixteen models. Using the rest of the models, the cost and someselected performance properties were obtained in order to determine their optimumvalues. LINGO 8.0, the optimization software, has been used to solve the models. The evaluation of the results is given through the parts of the thesis.Key Words: Towel, statistical analysis, optimization, predicting, LINGOII
