Abstract (EN)
In this study, 130 patients with colorectal cancer who visited Dokuz Eylul University Medical School, Medical Oncology Department in order to receive adjuvant chemotherapy were evaluated in terms of stage of tumor, lymph node metastasis, tumor differantiosis and chemotherapy. Patients with T3 and T4 or N2 and NO tumors were compared in terms of survival and the differences were statistically significant. (p=0.03, p=0.04) According to the chemotherapy, 52 patients were treated with bolus 5-FU (Mayo, 5-FU+Levamisol, 5-FU weekly, 5-FU+Levamisol+Leucoverin ), 74 patients with infusional 5-FU (DeGramont, De Gramont+CPT-11) and 4 patients without chemotherapy. 10 out of 52 (%7.6) patients had grade 3-4 hemotologic toxicity and in infusional group only one patient (%0.8) had grade 4 neutropenia. Grade 3 diarrhaea was noted in 6 patients of bolus arm (%4.6) and only in one patient of infusional arm. Nausea and vomiting and grade 2 mucositis were significantly more frequent in bolus group and the differences were statistically significant. (p=0.01 and p=0.01) Treatment regimen was changed in one patient who had myocardial infarctus in infusional group one patient died during the bolus treatment and two patients died because of pulmoner embolism in the infusional group. When all patients were evaluated in general, 5-year survival rate was %75.35 and 5-year disease-free survival was %54.69. Although survival rate and disease free survival were better even if not statistically significant in bolus arm, the possibility that the presence of 5 patients with advanced stage with metastatectomy and short follow-up in infusional group could have an effect on the result should be kept in mind. Although prognostic features of our patients were similar with the data in the litterature, to asses the chemotherapy regimen with adjuvant treatment, prognostic studies with sufficient number of patients are needed. 39
