The evalution of the extra-cirriculum activities of the ninth grade geography lessons according to the ideas of the teacher

It is a real fact that the alteration is inevitable through the developing world. In order to have a better education system, the system has changed since people are constantly in search of the perfectness. Instead of the traditional approach the constructivist approach is in use which involves student-centered activities and prompts students to be more active and being away from the memorization. With this approach teachers are not, only the tutors dictating the knowledge but as well they become the leaders, questioning the students during the classes and out of the classes. In this case, some variations were done in the course books, too. The performances and activities have become more and more so as to involve the students to the subjects and teach them how to learn (learn-to learn) and practice the knowledge individually.The new program in progress was on due in 2005. The most important parts of the books are performances. The activities are divided into two parts due to the fact that the activities could be done during the classes or out of the classes. In this workshop the activities done out of the classes were specified, classified, practiced and evaluated by the teachers.With this workshop the purpose is to enlighten the following programs by getting about the extracurricular activities and learning the importance of validity and limitations of the ideas among the teachers who are the practitioners of the new high school geography plan laid out according to the constructivist approach in 2005.This workshop is restricted within the high schools around the towns in Ankara and in Ankara, as a center, therefore 56 schools have been visited and also it is applied to about 150 teachers.In getting the datum the ideas of experts are consulted and open- ended questions are used to learn the aim of the extracurricular activities and their qualities and their restrictions through the surveys that formed by the researcher.Consequently it is determined that the activities that are suggested for geography curriculum are suitable for the geography teachers of the ninth grade students. It is come out that the teachers can?t use these extracurriculum activities very often.
