Use of biyocontrol agents and biostimulants for tha biologial control of bacterial speck disease on tomato

Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato, the causal agent of tomato bacterial speck, is one of the most common and economically important bacterial diseases in greenhouses and fields worldwide. This study was carried out using commercial biostimulants (Megafol, MC Cream, Vitaseve, Crop-Set ) and bacterial bioagents isolated from tomato plants in Manisa province and also bacterial culture collections from Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Phytobacteriology laboratory to investigate their effect on control of bacterial speck and plant growth on tomato. The results showed that the applicants of bioagents and biostimulants suppressed the bacterial speck on tomatoes around %30-85. The application of Megafol which is the most effective biostimulant was assessed on disease severity. It has reduced bacterial speck on tomato by %85. Moreover, the application of bioagents namely S(2) (Bacillus mycoides) and DT(5) (Pseudomonas chlororapsis) found suppression of the bacterial speck on tomatoes as %75. Similarly, both bioagents supported the plant growth parameters such as shoot and root weight (as wet and dry) and length of root and shoot. This study indicated that, B. mycoides (S(2)) and P. chlororapsis (DT(5)) and biostimulants especially Megafol have the potential to be used in order to reduce the effect of bacterial speck on tomato.
