Prof.Dr. Hasan ÇET NIn this study, the ultimate bearing capacity of shallowd foundation on sandreinforced with geogrid layers was investigated using a small scale laboratory tests.Strip footing was used in the model tests. The parameters investigated include thelocation of the first layer of reinforcement, the vertical spacing of reinforcementlayer. FE analysis of the test models were carried out by using the FEM programPLAXIS. The analysis of were conducted 2D and under axisymetric condition. Thenumerical results are compared with the experimental results. After comparing theresults of experiments and the numerical studies some practical design parameterswere suggested for the relevant foundation engineerring applications.Keywords: Reinforced soil, geogrid , bearing capacity, slope stability.II
